The International Youth Programme – 2016
The West Bengal State Branch of Indian Red Cross Society initiated a Youth Movement Plan as a part of The International Youth Programme and to spread the Junior Red Cross activities in the School level. On the basis of the above plan, the South 24Parganas District Red Cross Branch organised a Junior Red Cross Students volunteers training and community awareness programme on 3rd & 4th October 2016 with the support of the International Committee of Red Cross, International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies, Indian Red Cross Society National Headquarters, New Delhi along with Jyotirmoy Public School, Sonarpur.Total 62 persons participated in the Class. Following subjects discussed in the Class: Basic First Aid, Bandage and patients caring method, Basic Health & sanitation, WASH concept, Red Cross- its organisation and activities, Allergy and preventive points, Peace concept etc. 36students, 11 teachers, from 8 schools of South 24 Parganas District from Namkhana, Diamondharbour, Bishnupur, Budge Budge, aruipore, Janjhara, Raghabpur and Jyotirmoy Pubic School, Sonarpur and 15 Red Cross volunteers participated at this training programme.Total 62 persons participated in the Class. Following subjects discussed in the Class: Basic First Aid, Bandage and patients caring method, Basic Health & sanitation, WASH concept, Red Cross- its organisation and activities, Allergy and preventive points, Peace concept etc. 36students, 11 teachers, from 8 schools of South 24 Parganas District from Namkhana, Diamondharbour, Bishnupur, Budge Budge, aruipore, Janjhara, Raghabpur and Jyotirmoy Pubic School, Sonarpur and 15 Red Cross volunteers participated at this training programme. After completion of the training, the participants moved to Jyotirmoy Public School, Sonarpur for night stay. Next on 4th October, 2016 at morning 8 a.m. after breakfast 8 groups were formed from the above students, for community awareness programme at a village near Jyotirmoy Public School ( Kalikapur,Tematha). These groups including the 80 students of Jyotirmoy Public Schools visited 200 houses with a survey Form and spoke with the family members of these houses and distributed the leaflets of Red Cross activities, Health Education, wash concept ( how to wash the hands and maintain hygiene) as part of Swatch Bharat programme.
